Admins can include external links as steps in a Yoodli Program. This lets you direct learners to surveys, worksheets, intake forms, reference documents, or any other web-based resource as part of a structured learning path.

How to add a link step to a Program

  1. Open the Program you want to edit, or create a new one.

  2. Click Add step.

  3. Select Link from the step type options.

  4. Enter the URL for the external resource.

  5. Add a title so learners know what they are clicking on.

  6. Optionally add a description to give context about why this step exists in the program.

  7. Save your changes.

What the learner sees

When a learner reaches a link step in their program, they see the title and description you entered, along with a button to open the link. The link opens in a new tab so they stay in Yoodli.

Learners can mark the link step as complete manually once they have finished the associated task.

Common use cases

  • Pre-training survey — Send learners a readiness or intake form before they begin practice.

  • Post-training survey — Direct learners to a feedback or reflection form after completing a roleplay or program section. (For in-platform surveys, see Program Surveys.)

  • Worksheet or job aid — Link to a fillable template or reference document learners should review or complete.

  • Additional reading — Direct learners to a product page, internal wiki article, or external resource relevant to the training topic.

Notes

  • Yoodli does not track whether a learner actually visited or completed the linked resource — only that they marked the step done.

  • For tracking completion of in-platform content, use roleplay steps or the Program Surveys feature instead.

  • Links can point to any publicly accessible URL. If the resource requires a login (e.g., an internal tool), make sure learners have access before publishing the program.
