Create a deck with AI using Cards

Create AI-generated card decks from your roleplay source material so learners see the right visual support at the right moment in the conversation.

Written by Christian Bedoya

Cards help admins create visual learning materials for Yoodli roleplays. Instead of building a slide deck manually, you can upload reference material and let Yoodli generate a styled card deck that appears during the roleplay.

Cards are designed to support learning-focused roleplays by giving the AI visual context to share at the right moments in the conversation.

What are Cards?

Cards are AI-generated slide-style visuals that can be added to select Yoodli roleplays. When a learner goes through the roleplay, Yoodli can surface the right card at the right time based on the conversation.

Cards can be useful when you want learners to understand concepts, review product knowledge, walk through training material, or practice with visual support.

Where Cards are available

Cards are available for these roleplay templates:

  • Tutor

  • Custom

  • Skill Accreditation

  • Questionnaire

  • Objection Handling

Cards are not available for every roleplay type.

How to create Cards

To create a card deck:

Go to the Roleplay Builder.

Upload a context file, such as a document, deck, or knowledge file.

Go to Visual Content.

Select Create a deck with AI.

Add optional generation instructions.

Choose your content density, number of cards, and style.

Generate the deck.

Yoodli will use the knowledge files attached to the roleplay to create the deck. If no context file has been uploaded, the Create a deck with AI option will be disabled.

Generation usually takes a few minutes. You can leave the builder while the deck is generating and come back later.

Editing your card deck

After your deck is generated, you can open it in the card editor. From there, you can:

  • Rename the deck

  • Edit text on individual cards

  • Regenerate individual cards with custom instructions

  • Add images to cards through regeneration

  • Reorder cards

  • Delete individual cards

  • Delete the full deck

  • Preview the deck

  • Edit the AI display instructions for each card

The display instructions tell the AI when and how to show a card during the roleplay. If you make changes to a card, you may also want to review the display instructions to make sure they still match the updated content.

Using Cards in a roleplay

During the roleplay, Yoodli will show cards in the visual content area when they are relevant to the conversation.

Cards can be used alongside other visual content, such as images and PDFs. Learners will see everything as part of one unified roleplay experience.

Learners can also download the card deck before or during the roleplay.

Downloading a card deck

Card decks can be exported as:

  • PDF

  • PowerPoint

  • In-product slideshow preview

What Cards do not support yet

Cards are built to help admins quickly create visual support for roleplays, but they are not a full slide design tool.

Cards do not currently support:

Choosing from a template library

Moving or resizing design elements manually

Changing font size or font type

Creating charts or data visualizations

Reusing the same deck across multiple roleplays

Creating cards outside of a roleplay

Interleaving individual cards between other visual content files

Choosing exactly which uploaded file is used to generate the deck

Downloading the deck as HTML

Cards are connected to the roleplay where they were created. If you are looking for a deck, return to the roleplay where it was generated.

Tips for better card generation

Use clear source material that includes the key information learners need.

Add generation instructions if you want the deck to focus on a specific topic, audience, or learning goal.

Choose a lighter or denser content style depending on how much information you want on each card.

Review the AI display instructions after editing cards so Yoodli knows when to surface each card during the roleplay.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the Create a deck with AI option disabled?

You need to upload a context file before creating a deck. Once a knowledge file, document, or deck is attached to the roleplay, the option will become available.

Can I reuse a card deck in another roleplay?

Not yet. Card decks currently stay attached to the roleplay where they were created.

Can I edit the design of each card?

You can edit card text and regenerate cards with custom instructions. Manual design editing, such as moving elements, changing fonts, or resizing shapes, is not currently supported.

Can I add images to cards?

Yes. Images can be added through card regeneration. Drag-and-drop image uploads are not currently supported.

Can learners download the deck?

Yes. Learners can download the deck before or during the roleplay.

Where can I find my cards?

Cards live on the roleplay where they were generated. They do not currently appear in a separate content library.
