Roleplay Agent is a chat-based way for organization and Content Space admins to build roleplays. Describe what learners should practice, answer a few follow-up questions, and Yoodli creates a complete draft with a title, description, context, personas, objections, and rubric goals.
You can then save and preview the roleplay or continue editing it in the standard Roleplay Builder.
Before you start
Roleplay Agent is available to organization owners and admins whose organization has the Conversational Roleplay feature enabled.
If your organization does not have this feature, Create with AI will continue to generate a roleplay from a single prompt.
Roleplay Agent creates new roleplays. It cannot edit an existing roleplay through chat.
How Roleplay Agent works
Roleplay Agent guides you through a conversation instead of generating everything from one prompt.
Describe what learners should practice, such as a discovery call with a skeptical CFO.
Answer the assistant’s follow-up questions. You can type a response or select a suggested answer.
Review the Live draft as Yoodli adds the description, context, personas, rubric goals, objections, and reference files.
Review the suggested personas or persona groups.
Preview the voice and select the persona you want.
Click Save & preview to create the roleplay and open the practice page.
The Live draft may show empty sections or loading placeholders early in the conversation. This is expected. Yoodli fills each section as it gathers enough information.
Create a roleplay from the Roleplay Builder
Go to Content → Roleplays in your organization or Content Space.
Start a new roleplay.
In the Create with AI section, enter a short description of what learners should practice.
If needed, click + to attach up to five files or add one reference link.
Wait for attached files to finish processing.
Click Create with AI.
Answer the assistant’s questions or select a suggestion under the chat.
When persona cards appear, review the options.
Click Play to preview a persona’s voice, then click Select.
When the draft is ready, click Save & preview.
The roleplay will be created in your currently selected Content Space.

What you’ll see during the conversation
Chat layout
Before the draft contains any content, the chat appears in the center of the page with the prompt, “What would you like your learners to practice?”
Once Yoodli starts building the roleplay, the chat moves to the left and the Live draft appears on the right. On mobile devices, you will see one column at a time.
Suggestion pills
Suggestion pills provide short answers based on the conversation. Selecting one sends it as your next message.
Live draft
The Live draft can include:
Description
Context
Personas
Rubric
Objections
Files
Sections may appear as placeholders until the assistant has enough information to complete them.
Persona cards
Yoodli may suggest two or more personas for scenarios that need a customer, buyer, interviewer, or similar character.
Each persona card includes:
Name and role
Demeanor
Profile picture
Voice preview
Selection control
If Yoodli finds a suitable persona in your organization’s library, it may suggest that existing persona. The profile picture and voice used in the saved roleplay will match the persona card you selected.
Persona groups
For panel interviews, buying committees, and other multi-persona scenarios, Yoodli may suggest a group of personas with different roles or attitudes.
After selecting a group, you can request changes by referring to a persona by name. For example, you could ask Yoodli to “make the CFO more skeptical.”
Progress messages
While Yoodli updates the draft or processes reference material, you may see messages such as:
Updating your roleplay…
Searching the web…
These messages show that Yoodli is working and do not indicate an error.
Save or continue editing your roleplay
You have two ways to finish the creation process.
Save & preview
Save & preview creates and enables the roleplay, then opens the practice page.
This option becomes available after Yoodli has finalized the draft and you have selected a valid persona or persona group.
Edit manually
Click Edit manually to save your persona and goal selections and open the full Roleplay Builder.
The roleplay remains unpublished so you can configure fields and settings that are not available through the chat.
Use Save & preview or Edit manually before leaving the page if you want to preserve your work.
Attach files and links
Reference material can help Yoodli build a roleplay using real calls, presentations, job descriptions, and other source material.
You can add:
Up to five files per session
One reference URL per session
Click + next to the chat box to attach a file or add a link.
Wait until each file finishes processing before sending your first message. Yoodli needs to process the file before the assistant can use its content.
After you send your first message, attached files are locked and cannot be removed from the attachment row. Make any attachment changes before sending that message.
If a link cannot be loaded, remove it or replace it with a publicly accessible URL. Yoodli cannot use broken pages or pages that require a login.

Notes and expectations
Saving your progress
Chat messages may remain available if you close the page, but unfinished draft fields can be lost when the page refreshes. This can include persona choices that have not been saved.
Click Save & preview or Edit manually before leaving the page.
Content Spaces
The roleplay is created in your active Content Space, just like a roleplay created manually.
Programs
If you open the creation flow from a program, the roleplay may not automatically remain linked to that program. Confirm the program assignment in the Roleplay Builder after creating the roleplay.
Feature rollout
Organizations without the Conversational Roleplay feature continue to use the classic, single-prompt Create with AI experience.
Troubleshooting
Create with AI does not open a chat
Your organization may not have the Conversational Roleplay feature enabled, or your account may not have the required admin permissions.
Confirm your role in the organization settings. You can also contact [email protected] or your Yoodli account team to ask about access.
Create with AI is disabled
Enter a short description of the roleplay you want to create. The button remains disabled until the prompt contains text.
Send is disabled after attaching files
The files are still uploading or processing. Wait until the attachment chips no longer show a loading state, then send your message.
A message shows “Failed to send”
Click Retry on the failed message. If the message continues to fail, refresh the page and begin a new conversation.
You may need to attach your reference files again after refreshing.
“Failed to start a new roleplay session” appears
Refresh the page and try again. If the error continues, contact [email protected].
Persona cards do not appear
Continue answering questions about the learner’s role, the situation, and the desired difficulty. Yoodli waits until it has enough context before suggesting personas.
If you have already provided those details, ask, “Suggest persona options.”
Save & preview does not appear
Yoodli must finalize the draft with a valid persona or persona group.
Select a persona when the cards appear. If you are satisfied with the draft, you can also ask the assistant to finalize it.
The saved persona does not match the preview card
The saved persona should use the same voice and profile picture shown on the selected card.
If they do not match, note the roleplay title and contact [email protected].
Yoodli cannot generate a scenario from a link
Remove the link or replace it with a publicly accessible page. Yoodli cannot access broken links or pages that require authentication.
Live draft sections remain empty
The assistant fills each section as it gathers information. Empty sections and placeholders are normal early in the conversation.
Frequently asked questions
Who can use Roleplay Agent?
Organization owners and admins whose organization has the Conversational Roleplay feature enabled can use Roleplay Agent. Learners and non-admin members can practice assigned roleplays but cannot create them through the chat.
How is Roleplay Agent different from the previous Create with AI experience?
The previous Create with AI experience generates a roleplay from one prompt. Roleplay Agent asks follow-up questions, displays a Live draft, and lets you select voice-previewed personas before creating the roleplay.
Can I edit an existing roleplay through chat?
No. Roleplay Agent currently creates new roleplays only. Open an existing roleplay in the Roleplay Builder to edit it.
Can I practice the roleplay inside the chat?
No. Click Save & preview to create the roleplay and open the practice page.
Can I describe a roleplay in another language?
Yes. You can provide instructions in languages other than English. The generated content will follow the language and instructions used in your conversation.
Can I create interview or multi-persona roleplays?
Yes, if those roleplay types are enabled for your organization. Describe the panel interview, buying committee, or other multi-persona situation, and Yoodli can suggest a persona group.
Where is the roleplay saved?
The roleplay is saved as a standard organization roleplay in your active Content Space. It appears alongside roleplays created manually.
For help enabling Roleplay Agent or resolving an issue not covered here, contact [email protected] or your Yoodli account team.
