What are Unscored Goals?

Unscored Goals are a type of evaluation target that provides AI-powered feedback to users without assigning numerical scores. Unlike standard goals, they focus solely on delivering consistent, targeted guidance rather than performance measurement. These goals appear in the "advanced" goal selection menu and require only a single description field that tells the AI how to provide feedback to users.

Why use Unscored Goals?

Unscored Goals are ideal when you want to:

  • Provide consistent, targeted feedback on specific behaviors or skills without the pressure of numerical evaluation

  • Focus on development rather than assessment - giving users guidance without affecting their performance metrics

  • Complement existing evaluations by addressing areas that don't require formal scoring

Since Unscored Goals don't generate numerical data, they won't appear in dashboards or reports, keeping the focus purely on learning and improvement.

How to create Unscored Goals

  1. Go to the Roleplays in the Content navigation bar

  2. Go to the Custom Goals tab

  3. Click "Create a Custom Goal"

  4. Go to "Advanced Goals"

  5. Select "Unscored Goal"

  6. Fill out the single required field: describe how you want the AI to provide feedback to users

    • Be specific about what behaviors, skills, or areas you want the AI to focus on

    • Include any particular tone or approach you want the feedback to take

  7. Save your goal

Once created, the Unscored Goal will be available for Roleplays and will provide the specified feedback without generating scores.
