Practice makes progress! Using the builder, you can create your own personal roleplays and personas to customize the practice you need to succeed. This gives you the ability to expand beyond quick conversations into highly specialized roleplays of any type you can imagine.

Roleplays define the overall situation you expect to practice - an interview, a cold call, a pitch, etc. Personas define who you're talking with - are you pitching to a CEO, a Director, or your buddy?

Create Roleplays

Write a simple prompt to have a detailed roleplay generated for you.

  1. Create a new roleplay from Builder or Roleplays (if you're an admin).

  2. Use the text field to enter a description for the roleplay at any level of detail.

    • Add files or links to provide better context

    • Add details about the persona and turn on "Generate persona" so a persona is created for you in the process

    • If you want to start off from a template, use the options below.

  3. Review the roleplay and tell the AI to make any additional changes.

  4. When done, press Continue to see the final result.

Preview Roleplay

You can test out the roleplay in a chat-based format. If you'd rather not type back and forth with the persona and just want to see what the roleplay will be like, click "Generate next response" to have AI chat with itself.

Preview Goals

For any goal you create or edit in Builder, you can use any of your existing recordings to preview the score and feedback.

Using Templates

Yoodli provides a number of base templates to work off of to define your roleplay. Choose a template that is closest to the roleplay you’re trying to build. If you can’t find a template that’s a close match, you could also use the "Custom" scenario.

Please follow the instructions in-product on how to customize each roleplay. During this customization, remember these few key tips:

  • The more information and context you give the AI, the more realistic and interesting your experience will be. Use the "rephrase" button to help you hone in your prompt

  • You can configure a roleplay in a few different ways, between the description, persona, and questions. When in doubt, the description is always a safe place to put any details

  • You’re in control! Make changes to your roleplay at any time

While creating your roleplay, you'll also get to choose how it ends - either allowing the AI or member to end the conversation, or requiring the member to end the conversation. We recommend allowing the AI to end the conversation as this will give the most realistic, immersive, and fun experience. To further enhance the realism, you can assign an "AI driven time limit" to a roleplay. The AI will act as if it had a hard stop at that time, notifying you it'll have to leave the call around 5 minutes ahead and then leaving the call when it hits the time limit.

Pitch Roleplays

The “Pitch” roleplay is a special type of roleplay meant for practicing pitches or presentations where you expect to talk without interruption for a few minutes, before you break into questions. Use this if you want to make sure the AI doesn't jump in too early on you!

As part of this focused use case, Pitch roleplays also support a “target time” goal which help help keep you accountable for ensuring your pitch hits your target time.

Personas

You can also create custom personas to practice with. Choose their role, voice, demeanor, and add background information you would like the AI to draw from.

Personas give you an easy way to configure your roleplay and keep it fresh. If you're aiming to practice a sales call or small talk in the same situation but want to be ready for different partners, this is the best way to quickly switch things up without having to do all the extra hard work of creating a new roleplay.
