Admins and builders can set a hard time limit on a roleplay so the session ends automatically once the limit is reached, instead of continuing indefinitely. This keeps practice sessions a consistent length and avoids overly long recordings.
Setting a time limit (Admins & Builders)
Open the roleplay in the Builder.
Scroll to the Advanced section.
Set the time limit field to the maximum session duration you want to allow.
Save the roleplay.
If no time limit is set, the roleplay runs until the learner ends the session themselves.
What learners experience
If a session reaches its time limit, the roleplay ends automatically. The recording is saved and processed the same way as a session the learner ended manually, so scoring and feedback still run on the completed portion of the conversation.
FAQ
Is there a default time limit on all roleplays?
No. Time limits are optional and set per roleplay by an admin or builder. If you're not sure whether a specific roleplay has one, or what it's set to, check with your program admin or the person who built the roleplay.
Does hitting the time limit affect my score?
Scoring runs on whatever portion of the conversation was completed before time expired. If a roleplay is consistently ending before you can complete it, let your program admin know — the time limit may need to be adjusted.
Do time limits apply to chat-based roleplays too?
Yes, chat-based roleplays support the same time limit setting as voice and video roleplays.
